Call Him "The Goracle;" Is Al Gore the Dem's New Oracle?

He travels, he speaks, he jokes, he wows, he inspires, he's the rare Democratic voice attacking the Busheviks. As the Los Angeles Times reports, Al Gore "has seemingly lost the stiffness that was the hallmark of his vice presidency and White House run."

On Monday he delivered a scathing critique of the Bush administration during a passionate Martin Luther King Jr. day speech (a speech, mind you, that was all but ignored by the mainstream media). Next week he'll be the talk of the Sundance Film Festival where the new global warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" will be premiering.

There's no stopping Al. He's becoming the Democrats' oracle; the voice of logic, reason and morality, and the wise old sage on everything from the war, the environment and executive power. Let's just call him, The Goracle.

Make no mistake about it. Al Gore is on a rehabilitation crash-course. We're witnessing one of the greatest make-overs in political history. And it's working. Gore has lost his stiffness. And he's acquired a voice in its stead. And he's crafting a message that's resonating across liberal America. All you had to do was turn on the radio or surf the 'net on Monday to realize just how much excitement and buzz Al is generating.

I'll admit it. I've been front and center on the Al-Gore-for-president bandwagon. And I take heat for it from a few friends and colleagues who just can't seem to get over just how inept the former VP was in his 2000 bid to become president. But I'll keep pounding the table on the fact that Gore's changed; the country has changed; the world has changed. The Al Gore of 2000 is not who you see and hear before you today. He's the new Nixon. The Comeback Kid. His transformation calls to mind the terrific words of Bob Dylan: "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now." Gore's rebirth is fascinating to watch. He is indeed younger, stronger, smarter and undeniably prescient.

When I saw his speech and the way he delivered it I thought I was seeing someone else. Al has made a 180 degree turn in his ability to give a fired up speech, I was totally impressed. In the past you couldn’t wait for it to end but now he’s got it mastered. The ONLY thing I saw and think he needs to change was his delivery, he should have paused when he made a statement that fired up the crowd, instead he kept on talking. He needs to be able to pause and let the listeners absorb what he just said and let them react. He’ll get that I’m sure.

Andy, the more you have articles about Al the more I believe you are correct in that Al Gore is the ONLY one that has a chance. I too surfed the web and found only very positive articles about Al and I hope he knows he’s got us FIRED UP. Us being the base have wanted a real leader and we’ve been waiting 6 years now for our “savior” to come and I think he has and it’s Al Gore.

Aside from the possible theft at the voting booths by the Republicans, I worry that they will start their attack on Gore with "Who is the real Gore?" and play clips from the last campaign to poke merciless "fun" at him. He needs to justify the "new Gore" somehow, and he has to address the undefended Swiftboat smear and stop it from reappearing.

Back in 2000, the likes of Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd attacked Gore. Dowd was at it again and Bob Somerby called her on it.

After five year of our current dumbfuck-in-chief, I am begging for the cerebral Gore.

Andy,I've become a true fan of the Ostroy Report. Keep it coming and keep up the Gore watch. Now all we need is the 'Goracle' to show up in Iowa or New Hampshire. That will really get people buzzing.

or alabama where we may get an earlier primary soon

Thanks for the great comments. The Goracle is what this country needs right now: a brilliant, passionate, policy wonk who actually cares about the important things...rather than some small-minded stubborn ego-maniac who you'd "like to have a beer with."

God, give me a damn wonker, would ya? Sombody with a brain, who's actually read the constitution, thinks maybe it's a cool way to run a republic, who doesn't constantly just embarass the living shit out of me every single damn day...

Goraclites: Al will be appearing in a film about global warming at the Sundance Festival: its title/ An Inconvenient Truth. Laurie David (wife of Larry) is one of the producers....Google it for more interesting info---I'm running on empty...oh, and I'm sure the Mindless Ones will have a field day with Al's "wonkiness"!And to that, i just say, BRING IT ON, AL!!!!

Embarassing question: what to do if you find you've forgotten your password? Uhhhhhhhh....I mean, I thought I knew it....I must've been self-medicating when I registered....

"Undeniably prescient?" Hee hee...

maybe he can see this in the future. The lefties DON'T and Won't EVER forgive the sonofabitch for folding like a wet noodle in FL 2000 dispute and wimping away with tail between legs, so illegal/illegit Pres. Bush 43 could shove it up our asses sideways. Instead he casts the deciding ratifying Senate vote for the coup we have been seeing. Fucker!

Now he talks tough. Fat lot of good, as they say.
