Novak Sees Gore as the Only Threat to Hillary

In his Saturday column, Al the Only Worry for Hill,, conservative pundit Robert Novak cites Democratic insiders who say Al Gore is likely to make another run for the White House in 2008, saying the former veep's online fundraising power could amass a greater warchest than that of the Sen. Hillary Clinton, the party's presumptive front-runner.

This would be The Goracle's third attempt at the presidency since 1988. As we've stated here many times before, Gore's primary appeal would come from his White House experience; his successful economic track-record; his pro-environment position; and his early staunch opposition to the Iraq war. Let's not forget in 2000 he won the popular vote, and he came within a hairline of the electoral college as well (though many believe he was robbed of that by the Jeb Bush Gang and the Supreme Court).

Gore's been a highly outspoken critic of the Busheviks over the past couple of years, and has been the only Democrat not afraid to go for the jugular. His speeches have been downright riveting and impassioned. He's more relaxed, and is no longer the stiff wonk that he was in 2000 when facing a camera or a microphone.

Mark my words, folks. Al Gore will be running. He's a smart politician, and he and his people have probably already recognized that this is the best chance he'll ever get. It's a telling sign when people like Novak start to smell the campaign coffee as well. Get ready for The Comeback Kid.

Can you please cite a single wooden speech by Gore prior to the Selection? Or have you forgotten that this, too, is just a GOP talking point that has no basis in reality?

I think Hillary and Gore are vying for who will be the easiest to beat in the general election in '08.

You know, I'm slow, but I finally got it---why the Dims have no spine. It's the FOLLOW THE MONEY ROUTINE. Same shit, different party. Seems obvious, doesn't it? What can I say---hope springs, etc. So our only hope is somebody who has no debts, no creditors, no obligations, no nothin but a burning desire to save the Republic, and do a good job. I'm pretty sure the Goracle is the only being who even remotely fits this bill. Ain't nobody perfect, but literally, outside of Feingold, the Dims stink so badly it's barely funny. So I say, Gore/Feingold 2008. Please rescue what's left of us, guys.

I will send him money, put a bumper sticker on my car, send links of his speeches to my Republican relatives and do whatever else I could find time to do. I think Gore is one of three Democrats who can win in 2008 along with Edwards and Clark. If he runs, however, he will be without doubt my first choice.

Hey, Goraclites---Go check out article on Al in recent online The American Prospect. Really great---lucid, analytical, and different from most political blah-blah. A treat. Come on, Al. We're dyin out here, man....

How can we "police" the voting machines so that the real winner comes out as President? Please, Mr. Gore...run again and pick Wesley Clark! You're my first choice! Well, maybe someone close to Gore will read this!

As a Independant voter who votes 90% of the time for Republicans, I think it is time for Al Gore to be our next president!

After reading the article about President Gore in The American Prospect it all comes together. Al Gore will not pull his gun from the holster until it’s time to shoot. I believe the article is correct in that Al will wait to see how badly Hillary does (and she will) and there will be a need for a true Democrat to take the helm. At that given time Gore will pull his gun and fire away at the media, and war loving candidates looking to be president.

The likes of Howard Dean and tons of other anti-war spokes persons who have been beating the airwaves from the very beginning will fall behind Al Gore and Russ Feingold to win the White House in 2008. Hillary will NOT get the nomination and all the hype right now is just that so it’s not going to go anywhere.

When Al and Russ get into the White House you can bet that Dean and George Clooney plus others will be given high cabinet posts, a real Dream Team for sure. Andy, I would guess you too will be one of the chosen in the Gore administration.

Al Gore is probably the most inteligent, articulate and, now, competent choice of the Democratic Party ( yes, you arrogant Republicans, it is the "Democratic" Party, not the "Democrat" Party. You only show your ignorance when you use the latter). He may be the last, best hope not only of the party, but of our democracy. No, I'm not investing messianic worship in the former Vice President. But if the people of this nation would expect more of themselves in terms of rational and critical thinking, stop dumbing down and buying into political spin and demogoguery, it would be apparent that he is the most qualified candidate out there to be leader of the free world. We need intelligence, not swagger. Genuine ethics not fundamentalist pietism. True competence, not MBA management. A Savior for the deep shit we are in? I don't know . . . but Al Gore is as close as we can hope for.

Johnny, your vision/analysis sounds not only hopeful but accurate. As we all know, Al ain't politics as usual anymore. The man got his whole world kicked and there's nothing like that to wake you up. Unfortunately, pain can be a great teacher. I believe that if he really had absolutely zippo designs on the run, he'd be more vociferous. This is waiting and watching. Great. As for Hillary, I really cannot comprehend why Dems would think she can lead the fight successfully. I mean, she's better than MonkeyBoy, of course, but she's showed her boring calculative streak way to many times for any REAL Patriots, R/L, to take her seriously.

I have this dream ,silly me...Inauguration morning in DC, cold bright blue day, crowds gathering, and I've taken the day off to watch Gore finally, FINALLY, take the oath. Something dreadful and heavy has been lifted
from my psyche. We have a chance to move forward, to heal, to not be ashamed of our head of state. It will be a long haul, given all the damage. But we have a chance. We have some hope. Al steps up, and his hand goes on the Bible...

May it happen. May it happen.

Al Gore, "JUST DO IT!"

Come on, RUN! Please run again!

The American Prospect article has given me hope that I didn't have before. Finally there's hope on the horizon. With you we will win! And we need you--how we need you!

OK, Goraclites, head over to DKos for a great diary/google video on Big Al. You'll love it. Also, some of the Kossaks have put together a Gore portal for drafting our man. Looks very cool...I don't even see it on google yet, now sure why, but if you go to comments following the diary, scroll down, it's there.
And the video diary will break your heart. It's like, this could've been our President....

Al Gore should run again, and if he does, i believe we will see a land-slide win, like no other presidential election. i'm a registered democrat, and a long time supporter of Gore. this man deserves to be president. if the bush camp would not have fronted their lies and twisted the court's arms, Gore would be our sitting president. Mr Bush should be ashamed of the lies he has told to the american people
Mr Gore, if you do indeed read this, know that you have my vote if you choose to run, i will support you like i do now.
