Rove Outlines Busheviks' Iraq Strategy to Win Midterms: Lie Again About Dems Being Weak on Terrorism

You have to hand it to Karl Rove. When he finds something that works, he sticks with it. While the president was conducting his symbolic Iraq war strategy summit on Monday, the newly energized, indictment-free chief political operative outlined his game plan for November, borrowing heavily from his '04 playbook. The overall theme: Iraq is a success. The Busheviks and Repugs can take the credit for this progress. We just killed Abu Masab al-Zarqawi, which is another huge milestone. The Democrats are weak pansies who run from war and would not protect Americans from terrorism. Sound eerily familiar? What's scary is how well this crap worked the last time. Can it work again?

For one thing, unlike '04, two-thirds of voters are against the war, most of whom believe there was no reason to go in the first place. And many of those voters also believe the Busheviks lied about and/or misrepresented intelligence to justify the invasion. When you factor in the mounting violence and U.S. soldiers' deaths; the fact that Al-Zarqawi-like milestones have proved meaningless in slowing the insurgency (a new CBS poll shows that al-Zarqawi's killing did little to change Americans' perceptions about the war or Bush); and the lack of a clear exit strategy, voters are likely to reject Rove's rhetoric when they step inside the booth in November.

The simple fact is, the war is not a success. It's a disaster. And the Bushies know it. But rather than outline a plan for victory and withdrawal, they're choosing once again to attack and smear Democrats in the most irresponsible and reprehensible way.

"When it gets tough, and when it gets difficult, they fall back on that party's old pattern of cutting and running," Rove said at a state GOP event in New Hampshire on Monday evening. Surely he must be talking about his own party, whose chickenhawk leaders--Bush, Cheney, Frist, Hastert, Santorum and Rove himself--ran like scared little mama's boys when they faced having to fight in a war. Their delusions of machismo 35 years later makes me want to puke. What's more, that Rove & Company continue to attack the credibility, patriotism and courage of highly decorated war heroes like Sen. John Kerry and Rep. John Murtha--who are calling for an accelerated troop draw-down by year's end--is criminal. These two guys have more courage and military expertise in their fingertips than in the entire Bush administration.

The Democrats, if they had their way, would never have killed al-Zarqawi, Rove told his kool-aid drunk audience, and they'd have Iraq fall to terrorists. Well correct me if I'm wrong here, but hasn't Iraq already fallen to terrorists? Isn't that country in a state of chaos, with dozens of citizens and soldiers killed practically every day? Isn't it clear that the U.S. has absolutely no control over the violence there? Isn't it also true that al-Zarqawi has already been replaced, the violence has escalated, and the mastermind of the 9/11 attack, Osama bin Laden, still roams free and is allowed to see his Al Qaeda operation in Iraq prosper?

Last week the House voted on a resolution declaring Iraq the central front in the "global war on terror," a common GOP refrain (and fantasy) since 9/11. The fact escapes them that this "central front" did not exist until Bush opened it with his vanity war. And he gave animals like al-Zarqawi a pulpit and a base of operations. The resolution also criticized any attempts by Democrats to set a timetable for withdrawal of our troops. Majority Leader John Boehner (OH) predicted that this debate would show Americans that "there are clear differences between Republicans and Democrats on how best to confront the global war on terror."

I have to say, I agree with Boehner. There's a monumental difference between how Dems and Repugs think on this critical subject. Dems would not have knowingly invaded a sovereign nation which posed no threat to us whatsoever, squandering thousands of lives, $300 billion, and valuable military resources in the process. Instead, we would have chased down bin Laden and focused our efforts on Al Qaeda and those who carried out the murderous attack on our citizens. We would not have invaded Iraq as a means of distracting Americans' attention away from the real enemy, nor would we have masterminded a campaign of deception that successfully morphed bin Laden into Saddam, and Al Qaeda into Iraq in order to carry out this charade. We would have fought terrorism by going after the terrorists. Sounds simple, right?

Bush, propped up by his handlers, is trying,to prove Abe Lincoln wrong when he said "You can fool some of the people all of the time. You can fool all of the people some of the time. But you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

um I think the entire U.S. Government, Republican and Democrat should be tarred and feathered! Enough is Enough! Bring down the Government because they don't speak for us! Tar & Feathers

Too bad it took racist Governor Wallace to realize that 'there's not a dime's worth of difference' between Republicans and Democrats. This gov't exploits 9/11, sits idly as Germany prosecutes Free Speech (Ernst Zundel), forces book outlets to stop stocking books like "America Deceived" by E.A. Blayre III, and cages protestors. It's only a matter of who's in charge and gets to abuse who's rights. With Clinton, it was his mistresses that felt the weight of gov't. With Bush, it's everyone who's not a Neocon.
Anyway, last link (before Google Books caves to the ruling power):

Nice article Ostroy. Maybe the Dems will take a few lines for their own use? Nah, wishful thinking.

Okay, but fair is fair. If the Repugs choose to believe Iraq is a success and take credit for this progress, so be it, but they must also take the credit for the lies that got us there in the first place, the 2,500 dead Americans, the slaughter at Haditha, the torture of Iraqi prisoners, the suicides at Gitmo, and perhaps most of all, since they are attempting to get so much mileage from it, they also deserve the credit for ignoring warnings which, had they been paying attention, would most likely have thwarted the 9/11 attacks.

It's easy to say what you WOULD do, but in reality:
- Feb 26, 1993 - World Trade Center bombed. Clinton response: nothing - law enforcement issue
- Oct 3, 1993 - 18 American soldiers killed in Somalia (Black Hawk Down). Clinton response: withdrawal
- Jan 1995 - Ramzi Yousef accidentally blows up his apartment while mixing chemicals to blow up 12 US commercial airliners in a day or rage. Uncovered in the remains showed "project bojinka" which involved ramming a commercial airliner into the pentagon. Clinton response: nothing
- Nov 13, 1995: 5 US soldiers killed in Riyadh car bombing. Clinton response: nothing
- Mar 8, 1996: Clinton refuses offer to turn over OBL because "he had no committed any crimes against the US" (yet)
- June 25, 1996: Khobar Towers bombed, killing 19 US soldiers. Clinton response: nada
- Feb 23, 1998: OBL holds press conference to declare war against the US.
- Aug 7, 1998: OBL organizes Kenya and Tanzania bombings. Clinton response, "we will use all the means at our disposal to...blah blah blah"
- Aug 20, 1998: Clinton bombs Sudan Aspirin Factory
- June 1999: Sandy Berger blocks proposal to attack OBL at a terrorist camp because "if he responds, we're blamed".
- Oct 12, 2000: OBL kills 17 US sailors in USS Cole attack.

The Republicans believe the end justifies the means and their end was to get into Iraq for the oil and for control in that area. Their "end" in elections is to win and stay in power. That's the way they are. And, there's not a Democrat in sight who has the balls to stand up against them.

If we can keep Chimpy McFlightsuit from killing us all before November, I think the Repugs are going to get an object lesson in being prison raped at the polls. Expect the GOP to be dead for a generation.

To Anonymous Clinton Scorekeeper...

What does Clinton's trackrecord have to do with GOP strategy and Karl Rove...think, think,...different times...different situation. If you think it illustrates a non existent Dem backbone, then you're obviously a GOP sweetstuff drinker. The fact is we on the outside do not know the logistics that took place on the inside of those events. Just like, oh red mustachioed one, you don't really know the kinky facts of the REAL reason Bush Co. chose Iraq. Oh, by the way, 2000-2006 OBL still at large under Chimpy's watch...HMMM?

"we on the outside don't know the logistics that took place on the inside" when it comes to Clinton's failure to capture/kill OBL when he was attacking the US in the 1990's (without response) and preparing for 9/11....but once the administration changes you know all the details, right? With thought processes like this, you really must be one of those bottom-barrell liberals who needs the socialist democrat income redistribution agenda to support your lifestyle. Better vote blue to make sure you are not responsible for the decisions you make in life when you can just blame it on someone other than yourself.

It must really make liberals mad that someone they like to call stupid keeps beating them. Top it off with an INNOCENT Karl Rove and you're on suicide watch. Just don't do anything crazy, like driving in a car with a Kennedy.

No one said Rove is innocent. There is not enough evidence, at this time, to indict. The investigation is not over...and perhaps there are even bigger names to indict. Rove may have gotten a free pass, but you GOPers don't know what is in the file. Your precious leaders are not off the hook, yet.

No, I didn't feel bad that Rove was passed over. There are far too, too many other legal problems - possible war crimes, over stepping of presidential powers, Tom DeLay, Abramoff, Ney, Burns, Cunningham, voter fraud, Libby, corruption, Ohio voter mess, Florida vote irregularities, recent electronic voting machine errors, illegal campaign contributions in Ohio, 2004 exit poll and electorial vote irregularities in Ohio, amnesty for illegals, huge budget deficit, no weapons of mass destruction, 2500 dead soldiers, bisexual GWB rumors, 45 million w/o health insurance, ongoing investigations by the American Bar assn of GWB and his illegalities, gas prices, Dubai deals, etc, etc, etc.

Rove is nothing and since we are now educated in his underhanded, reprehensible, and perhaps slanderous ways...whose going to listen to the GOP spin machine? Only the stupid would hang on to that load of crap!

TO: Libertarian Anon/ Rove was not proven innocent. There was only a lack of evidence to indict. Lack of evidence - enough to indict - does not mean there was no evidence, he didn't do it or wasn't involved. He was not guilty or innocent at that point, only a person of interest. Don't think too simplistically on this matter.

Liberals aren't holding onto Rove's spin. Only about 36-38% of the country are still holding on to Bush and his "brain". Hello?

Libertarians? Oh yeah, OKAY...What ever the voices tell you to do...

You missed the laundry list of this Republican administration's legal and political troubles. That's the bigger picture that people need to take a hard look at.

Geez - and we missed a few.

If the brain dead voters keep the House and/or Senate in Repub control, get ready for some really bad times. I will totally give up then.

Quit blaming the Dems. They do not contral the agenda. They do not have any power. The media is on the Repub side and do not give the Dems a fair voice.

Whenever anyone expresses displeasure with Washington, it should be pointed out loud and clear that the the Repubs control the HOUSE, SENATE, SUPREME COURT, AND WHITE HOUSE.

Cathy,
I'll buy your airfare to France if you promise never to return. Its easy to blame the democraps, even when they "have no power" as you intelligently admit.
The terrorists we are fighting world-wide are hoping that the spineless democraps help them (the terrorists) to break the will of great American public. They want a timetable and early withdrawal from Iraq, so they can setup a base, regroup, and attack us again.
We were attacked almost every year while BJ Clinton was raping women. No time to respond to OBL, when there's ~125 Million women in America to molest.
I'm all for throwing everyone in Washington OUT OF OFFICE, but replacing them with democraps is worse than where we are heading today.
We are winning in Iraq, not matter what the main stream media wants to portray. If the media is so behind the Republicans, why doesn't CNN have the recovered Zarqawi letter on their website. He admits we are winning in Iraq - you'd think this would be good for America. Why does Sheik Al-Murtha (D-PA) accuse US Marines of 'cold blooded murder' without giving them the benefit of a trial? Even Mousaoui got to have a trial.
If Democraps were behind the President, America, and the US Military - terrorists would KNOW that we are not going to surrender or lose the will to fight and the war would be over sooner than later.
Republicans may be in power, but the democraps have plenty of blame to share.
