Cheney's Audacity of "So"

The unmitigated arrogance that's emanated from the White House since before the Iraq invasion has been absolutely infuriating. It started with all the lies and deception in justifying the war; the sheer post-invasion-planning incompetence of the Busheviks; the now-infamous "we will be greeted as liberators" and "Mission Accomplished" delusions by VP Dick Cheney and President Bush respectively; the myriad distortions of truth and reality during the prosecution of the war; false claims of progress and success at every turn; and a swaggering insistence to this very day that, despite every Bushevik claim being untrue, that the war was justified and worth it.

And in one of those classic throw your shoe at the television moments that we've unfortunately come to experience in abundance from the Busheviks, Cheney displayed a heretofore unseen level of arrogance and a disdain for the American people this week while discussing the war. While in Amman, Jordan, the curmudgeonly Dr. Evil was interviewed by ABC News' Martha Raddatz, who reminded the five-deferment Vietnam draft-dodging coward that "Two-thirds of Americans say it's not worth fighting."

"So?" Cheney answered.

"So?" replied Raddatz incredulously. "You don't care what the American people think?"

"No," Cheney said. "I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls. There has, in fact, been fundamental change and transformation and improvement for the better. That’s a huge accomplishment."

Clearly, there's a reason why his name is Dick. From the weeks and months leading up to the war, he and his inept boss have been a couple of reckless cowboys who clearly had no friggin' idea what the hell they were talking about. And this colossal military fiasco of theirs has cost us $500 billion and 4000 U.S. soldiers' lives. And when asked to respond to the fact that an overwhelming majority of Americans want an end to the war and don't think it's worth fighting, Cheney essentially held up his middle finger and issued a great big fat Fuck You to us all. So much for of the people, by the people, for the people.

On another note, we could use your help at The The Adrienne Shelly Foundation. We are a tax-exempt, non-profit organization dedicated in my wife's honor to help carry out her spirit and passion, with the goal of assisting women filmmakers. Adrienne was brutally killed in NYC on November 1, 2006. Through the Foundation, her commitment to filmmaking lives on. We've established scholarships, grants, finishing funds and living stipends at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts/Kanbar Institute of Film; Columbia University; American Film Institute; Women in Film; the Independent Feature Project; the Nantucket Film Festival; and the Sundance Institute. We're very pleased to announce that one of last year's grant recipients, Cynthia Wade, just won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject for "Freeheld." We are proud of Cynthia and to have supported this film. Your generous contribution will go a long way towards helping us continue to achieve our very important mission.
Thank you.

What do you expect?
9/11 was an inside job, and DICK was on the "job", that morning, calling down the F-16's from making visual contact with 4 off track commercial airliners, which were flying around, up and down, there and here, for almost 2 hours, right past Andrews Air Base.
This is the man who shot his friend in the face, with birdshot, so close that it penetrated his heart. In fact, the victim apologized to DICK, as scared as he was.
You are lucky he didn't say his famous words, spoken to Senator Leehy on the Capital steps (FUCK YOURSELF).
Why Congress continues this charade , at their own peril, escapes me.
Their arshes are on the line, as the BS piles up higher and higher.
It's obvious that someone else, other than an American, is pulling the strings.

Denial of the will of the people is an impeachable offense. Too bad their is no law enforcement in our government.

"I'm shocked, shocked" sardonic as it is, doesn't work any more. We've had Cheney for what will be eight years and we're going to have him at least for four more, thanks to the election of Obama as the candidate and probably Richarson as vp. Thank you Dems.

A lot more people would take all the anti war mongers more seriously if they were also up in arms about the more than 30,000 Americans, many women and children, who have been either murdered outright by illegal aliens or murdered 2nd degree by illegal alien drunk drivers, or for that matter the 65,000 killed annually by citizen drinks. Seems to me we have a much larger and costlier war going on right here. Wonder if you folks are the same ones against the death penalty?

6:13 PM, lets not forget about the hundreds of thousands of innocent babies murdered for convenience. I'm not referencing the fringe case scenario of saving a mother's life by killing an unborn child either.

The first thing one has to realize, these are mutants. They are not people like you and I.

Normal people, who had made the statements and predictions, VERY publicly, such as Cheney, Bush, Wolfowitz, Pearle, Rice, Powell...and then proved not just wrong, but phenominally couldn't-be-more-wrong wrong, would have a tendancy to either publicly admit, or else shut the hell up and refrain from making any more statements.

Also, normal people when confronted by a huge majority of people that are in direct disagreement, would at least consider that it might be themselves that are wrong.

None of these things happen. Wolfowitz sniffed with such haughtiness and disbelief that "there are actually peopl out there that think we would need a larger force AFTER winning the war, than to win it". Cheneys constant "just around the corner"'s, as well as...oh hell, just read what these bozos have said, and staged moments for the cameras to "prove" themselves right.
It takes a true nutjob to be CONSTANTLY wrong, and continue to exude that smugness and arrogance that only THEY know really what is right.

These people are not like you and I. Great men are also not like you and I, but way different than them. They have no limits to their arrogance. Even if proven wrong about everything, they believe "history" will judge them correct. This kind of nutiness cannot be reasoned with. And cannot learn from mistakes either. IT is extremely dangerous to have them as leaders.

way to go Cheney. If you are pissing off Democrats, you're probably doing something good for America.

Don't forget, Dastardly Dick almost certainly knows who sent the anthrax letters. There are only so many people in the world who could make that stuff, and the idea that the multi-trillion dollar US defense/intel/counter-terror/law-enforcement apparatus couldn't isolate that small population to "who was in New Jersey when the letters were mailed" boggles the imagination.
(Plus, it was a nice touch to sent the deadly letters to.... only "librul media" and Democrat Senate leaders.)
Also, Cheney was behind the sale, by Halliburton European subsidiaries, of high tech oil field equipment to Iraq behind the back of the US embargo, while US aircraft were bombing Iraqi positions in "no fly zone"!
http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/sanction/iraq1/oilforfood/2001/0627chen.htm
As if that isn't bad enough, at the very time he was dealing with Iraq behind the back of UN embargo, Cheney co-signed the PNAC "statement of principles" - declaring that it was necessary to attack and invade Iraq, precisely because other nations were helping it avoid the embargo!
http://newamericancentury.org/statementofprinciples.htm
As if THAT wasn't bad enough, Cheney's own Chief of Staff, Lewis 'Scooter' Libby, was at the very center of the CIA "outing" scandal (which type of actions former President Bush Sr. labelled "most isidious treason" when he signed commemorated the bill which outlawed such CIA 'outings')
http://www.truthout.org/docs_03/093003A.shtml
and whether Libby was a principle of that 'outing' or not - he WAS CONVICTED of PERJURY and OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17479718/

Go back and check that PNAC link, you see that Cheney, Wolfo, Rummy, and Libby were thick as thieves, all the way back to 1997!

As if all the ABOVE wasn't bad enough, Mr. Cheney is still holding Halliburton stock, which goes up with each billion dollar no-bid, no-oversight contract he hands his "former" company.

And as if THAT wasn't bad enough, despite this nation spending billions and TRILLIONS of dollars in the "war on terror" to make our cities and our shores more secure... Mr. Cheney attempted to sell CONTROL OF AMERICA'S PORTS to Dubai based investors, of a dictator-run system, that is notorious for being a region of smuggling, possibly the source of financing for the 9-11 hijackers, and almost certainly a source of funding for the Sunni (anti-Shiite) resistance in Iraq!
And as if all THAT wasn't bad enough, Mr Cheney has seen fit to ship his "former" company, Halliburton, over to Dubai, presumably to avoid US taxes and legal oversight, and certainly taking all its secret plans for US military bases and oil platforms with it.
Clearly, were a Democratic VP to be even remotely linked to the above issues or still-born scandals, the peasants would have been at the gates of the White House, pitchforks, feathers, and buckets of hot tar in hand!
