Can This War-Mongering Maniac President Really Be Planning Military Action Against Iran?

The supplying of weapons. The state-sponsoring of terrorists. The threat to America. Sound familiar? It ought to. It's President Bush waving the red flag again, only this time it's not about Iraq (which he was 100% wrong about) but Iran. And why not. The rhetoric is easy to regurgitate. And all he needs to do is change one little old letter and he's got a whole new target.

Yes, the man who brought us the worst foreign policy fiasco in U.S. history is up to his old tricks again. Almost four years and 3000 dead soldiers later, this delusional, lying sack of political poop has determined that Iran is the new Iraq. That we face a grave new threat from the mullahs who he claims are arming the Iraqis with sophisticated weapons used, for example, in roadside bombings that kill our soldiers. This irresponsible lunatic is the master of diversion. Failing miserably in Iraq (itself a diversion from his failure to bring Osama bin Laden and the 9/11 monsters to justice), he's setting his sights on Iran and trying to convince a once-stupid, once pro-war public that they should once again support his dangerous, reckless pseudo-macho battle fantasies. But who in their right mind is going to accept as truth anything this arrogant, irresponsible fool has to say at this dreadfully pathetic low point in his historically unsuccessful presidency? But that sure as hell ain't stopping him from trying. Give him points for stubbornness.

Speaking to (or should I say ducking and evading) reporters in the East Room of the White House Wednesday, Bush warned of the Iranian threat. "I can say with certainty that the Quds Force, a part of the Iranian government, has provided these sophisticated I.E.D.’s that have harmed our troops. And I’d like to repeat, I do not know whether or not the Quds Force was ordered from the top echelons of the government. But my point is, what’s worse, them ordering it and it happening, or them not ordering it and its happening?" He said it didn't matter whether Iraqi leaders were involved or not. "What matters is, is that we’re responding," and that if the U.S. determined who is responsible for "moving these devices into Iraq, we will deal with them." He added, "Whether Ahmadinejad (Iran's president) ordered the Quds force to do this, I don't think we know. But we do know that they're there, and I intend to do something about it."

So just what exactly is Bush planning to do? The great "uniter" refuses to meet with Iran's leaders, just as he's refused to engage any enemy in meaningful diplomatic dialogue. What a leader: miserable at diplomacy, awful as commander-in-chief. Sadly, I think I'd make for a better president. And he's very bad at lying too. If he thinks that any of us in the sane world don't see this new round of incendiary rhetoric as laying the groundwork for another war, then he's even more delusional than I suspect.

The real question is, how do we stop this dangerous nitwit before he kills again? Will Congress, the U.N. and the American public lay down again as the Busheviks, those natural born killaz, drag us down another deadly path? Stay tuned...

On another subject......we could use your help at The Adrienne Shelly Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated in my wife's honor to help carry out her spirit and passion, with the goal of providing scholarships and grants to women filmmakers. And we're already underway: We've just made plans with NYU's Tisch School of the Arts to provide an annual Adrienne Shelly Foundation Scholarship; and at Columbia University's graduate school an Adrienne Shelly Foundation Grant to an end-of-year student film competition finalist. Other initiatives will soon be finalized as well. As many of you know, Adrienne was brutally killed here in NYC on November 1st. Please visit our website to learn more about our mission and to make a donation. Every little contribution helps preserve Adrienne's legacy, and to help create something positive out of this horrible tragedy. Thank you.

I know, Andy, it seems incredible. Yet these blood thirsty neocons have been salivating over this opportunity for years. See Craig Ungers article in Vanity Fair.

The only solution is for the government to be returned to the people. Get into the streets and sound the alarm. And, if you connect with a higher power, pray more than ever.

Not only is the Bush junta planning a war against Iran, my guess is the newly elected, Democratic Congress knows it too.

Will they stop Bush? I doubt it.

Look at the wussy Dems on Capitol Hill right now trying to stop Bush's Iraq war.

Madam Pelosi says "impeachment is off the table."

House Dems don't have the balls to cut off funding for the Iraq war.

They're wasting precious time on non-binding, feel good, resolutions that are as useful as used toilet paper.

Meanwhile, Bush just ordered a 3rd aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf.

If Bush attacks Iran, he will unleash a wave of radical Islam for generations to come. You think the region is anti-American now? Please.

It's been said that success breeds arrogance. But with this White House, it seems failure breeds arrogance. Go figure.

Indeed, for Bush, there's noyhing left to LIE about.

Of course Bush is planning war and of course he will succeed if we, the people, don't do something. The ball is in our court. There have to be marches, and complaints to the stupid, hopeless, spinelss Democrats, who, unfortunately, are who we have to convince that, we, the poeple of America mean business. Impeachment would be a good start, Ms, Pelosi. Isn't lying to start a war as serious as lying about sex?

If the Iranian leadership is responsible for Quds, then why isn't Bush culpable for Abu Ghirab?

Anonymous said...

I am continually dumbfounded that throughout these last two weeks we've had the testimony in the Libby trial and the Pentagon report that confirms what we new from the Downing Street Minutes striking down the last talking points of Bush apologists while at the same time these same talking points are being recycled for a new war. Cognitive Dissonance?

We have a total asshole in charge in D.C. and what will the Dems do? Roll Over? If they don't stop this mad man they will be out in the cold come 08'. I will work as hard to get rid of them as I did to put them in Office. Come on Dems.........we elected you to have a back bone. Stop this Monster before he kills again!

Last March, 22-year-old Iranian student Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar went on a driving rampage on the campus of the University of North Carolina, injuring nine people. In a court appearance he said he was "thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah." He also wrote letters to the campus newspaper presenting Quranic justification for his attacks, but officials ruled out terrorism.

In October 2005, 21-year-old student Joel Hinrichs blew himself up outside the University of Oklahoma's football stadium where 84,000 were watching a game. Police insisted it was merely a suicide, but investigators found "Islamic Jihad" material in his apartment, and he reportedly attended a nearby mosque – the same one attended by Zacharias Moussaoui, the only person charged in connection with the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

In January 2004, after apparently undergoing a religious awakening, a Saudi Arabian student in Houston killed his Jewish friend by slashing his throat. Mohammed Ali Alayed, 23, pleaded guilty to the Aug. 6 attack on Ariel Sellouk, also 23, who almost was decapitated with a knife. Houston police said no clear motive had been established, but Alayed went to a local mosque after the slaying.

In a high-profile case, Beltway sniper John Allen Muhammad, a convert to Islam, went on a deadly shooting spree in the Washington, D.C., area in October 2002

No one has ever explained why the Last Will and Testament with full directions for the care of his dead body (no woman was to touch it) was found among the personal belongings of one of the 9/11 terorrists, Mohammed Atta. That suggests that he did not know he was going to his death and there would be no "remains" to attend to. Perhaps the 9:53 BLOGGER, could answer that and other puzzling questions asked at the time. These unanswered questions can easily be found. REPUBLICANS HATE THE TRUTH.

Witness Bush's recent comments and John Boehner's statement that "We have to fight the terrorists in Iraq or they will follow us home when we leave."
How long do hey think they can deceive the American public?

Anonymous 11:22,
perhaps you can explain what a young, fit, Mohammad Atta is doing carrying his Last Will and Testament among his personal belongings, if he is not planning for his death.

while you are at it, perhaps you can explain why Bill Clinton and Sandy Berger did NOT have him arrested/deported in October 1999, after he was pinpointed as an Al Qaeda member ("able danger")

Anonymous said...

9:28 You of course miss the point. His Will provided for the burial and ceremonial treatment of his dead body. A young, fit, intelligent Mohammed knew there would be no body if he were to be involved in a plane crash into a building. He would have had a Will that spoke to a religious ceremony without remains.

He wasn't arrested in 1999 because he had Civil Rights that our goverment repected in the once Golden Age of Constitutional Law. Later, under Bush there were legitimate reasons to question him but that administration did nothing.

How did anything 9:53 am posted remotely connect to the democrats? Sure it was a scorecard of young islamic murderers in action - but it did nothing to back up the claim of Al Queda lovin' the Dems.

The far more scary threat is Bush, Cheney, Gonzales, Rice and the rest of the GOP goose-steppers in the administration and Congress. They have continually shown their ineptness at everything and their blatant disregard of the laws. You're rights have been eroded in the name of delusional threat to the point where you can't pay down your credit card in large amounts or you'll trigger an investigation from homeland security! You can be profiled for very little and your electronic records can be tapped! Hello!?

It won't be long before more and more Democrats step forward and vote what they really believe. And what they really stand for is simple: American defeat in Iraq. They ran and won their seats in Congress by betting on American defeat in the Middle East. A victory is simply not in their best political interest.

Murtha and his ally House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were humiliated last Nov. 16 when the Democratic caucus overwhelmingly voted against Murtha as majority leader. Three months later, Murtha has shaped party policy that would cripple Bush's Iraq troop surge by placing conditions on funding. That represents the most daring congressional attempt to micromanage ongoing armed hostilities since the Joint Committee on the Conduct of the War challenged President Abraham Lincoln.

Neil meet Bobby. You should be very happy together. As far as the Dems wanting our defeat in Iraq: we have already been defeated, which is the point. The Bush, et al, policy was a failure and defeat for us from the beginning. Diplomacy is the only way to salvage and help Iraq and that kind of intelligent solution is not something the Repulicans understand. Then, of course, we all also have to be fearful of this administration's attack on our own freedom and democracy and the undermining of our Constituion. These are serious times for us and stupid partisan loyalty and the desire to create a theocracy here should be controlled for the benefit of the world.

Anonymous 9:52,
It's a shame that you can be so weak and willing to admit failure on George Washington's birthday. Numerous times, George Washington's steady leadership took us from dire situations to surprising victories, i.e. battles at Princeton and Trenton. It was the strong, not the weak, that made America. In the first half of last century, it was the strong that made America lead the world to victory over European facism. This century, it is the strong that will lead the world to victory over Islamic facism. The only plan Democrats have is surrender and weakness. If you think otherwise, please explain WITH DETAIL how the world will defeat Islamic facism. Generic utopian terms like 'diplomacy with islamic facists' is not a detailed plan, nor will it work.

10:29. We have been winners for all of our history because we have had winners as our leaders. George Washington was strong, wise, honest, intelligent, and brave. We do not have a strong, wise, honest, intelligent and brave president at this time. When we have such a leader we will win; and, we will win with wise diplomacy.

Carter was a real winner. He brought the post 1979 Iranian leadership into power. "Death to America" was born on Carter's watch.

Anonymous said...

Clinton was a real winner too. He ignored the Able Danger program, which pinpointed Mohammad Atta as an Al Qaeda operative planning in Manhattan in October 1999. The 9/11 Commission Report documents 4 distinct opportunities to kill Osama Bin Laden that were blocked by Clinton and his criminal partner, Sandy Berger.

Nancy Pelosi is a real winner. Just recently, she appointed corrupt Democrat William Jefferson to head the Homeland Security Committee. I suppose it is not enough that he was caught red handed accepting a $100,000 bribe. He was caught with $90,000 in his freezer. The Democrat Culture of Corruption is only warming up, just wait to see if the media and democrats give them a pass on their corruption.

I once remember Andy Ostroy claiming that he wants William Jefferson to step down. Let's see how Ostroy feels about Pelosi giving the corrupt William Jefferson an important committee.

1:47; 1:51; 10:00 all indicate the problem with Republicans. They are not clear thinkers. They cannot see the "apples and oranges" differences. Neither Carter, Clinton, nor Pelosi is our Leader/President. That you mention them in the context of wielding power in Iraq is unbelievable. Bush is our Leader/President. Bush is not a winner. Therefore, we are not winning. Why are you fixating on past history? Why are you not clearly thinking about our predicament now? I guess it's genetric.

And please don't be encouraged by my saying you're more articulate than I had thought. My expectations were low.

Since some people want to bring up 9/11, let's take a look at some of the details of it shall we?

One thing that struck me as odd in the days after 9/11 was Bush saying "We will not tolerate conspiracy theories [regarding 9/11]". Sure enough there have been some wacky conspiracy theories surrounding the events of that day. The most far-fetched and patently ridiculous one that I've ever heard goes like this: Nineteen hijackers who claimed to be devout Muslims but yet were so un-Muslim as to be getting drunk all the time, doing cocaine and frequenting strip clubs decided to hijack four airliners and fly them into buildings in the northeastern U.S., the area of the country that is the most thick with fighter bases. After leaving a Koran on a barstool at a strip bar after getting shitfaced drunk on the night before, then writing a suicide note/inspirational letter that sounded like it was written by someone with next to no knowledge of Islam, they went to bed and got up the next morning hung over and carried out their devious plan. Nevermind the fact that of the four "pilots" among them there was not a one that could handle a Cessna or a Piper Cub let alone fly a jumbo jet, and the one assigned the most difficult task of all, Hani Hanjour, was so laughably incompetent that he was the worst fake "pilot" of the bunch, with someone who was there when he was attempting to fly a small airplane saying that Hanjour was so clumsy that he was unsure if he had driven a car before. Nevermind the fact that they received very rudimentary flight training at Pensacola Naval Air Station, making them more likely to have been C.I.A. assets than Islamic fundamentalist terrorists. So on to the airports after Mohammed Atta supposedly leaves two rental cars at two impossibly far-removed locations. So they hijack all four airliners and at this time passengers on United 93 start making a bunch of cell phone calls from 35,000 feet in the air to tell people what was going on. Nevermind the fact that cell phones wouldn't work very well above 4,000 feet, and wouldn't work at ALL above 8,000 feet. But the conspiracy theorists won't let that fact get in the way of a good fantasy. That is one of the little things you "aren't supposed to think about". Nevermind that one of the callers called his mom and said his first and last name ("Hi mom, this is Mark Bingham"), more like he was reading from a list than calling his own mom. Anyway, when these airliners each deviated from their flight plan and didn't respond to ground control, NORAD would any other time have followed standard operating procedure (and did NOT have to be told by F.A.A. that there were hijackings because they were watching the same events unfold on their own radar) which means fighter jets would be scrambled from the nearest base where they were available on standby within a few minutes, just like every other time when airliners stray off course. But of course on 9/11 this didn't happen, not even close. Somehow these "hijackers" must have used magical powers to cause NORAD to stand down, as ridiculous as this sounds because total inaction from the most high-tech and professional Air Force in the world would be necessary to carry out their tasks. So on the most important day in its history the Air Force was totally worthless. Then they had to make one of the airliners look like a smaller plane, because unknown to them the Naudet brothers had a videocamera to capture the only known footage of the North Tower crash, and this footage shows something that doesn't look like a jumbo jet, but didn't have to bother with the South Tower jet disguising itself because that was the one we were "supposed to see". Anyway, as for the Pentagon they had to have Hani Hanjour fly his airliner like it was a fighter plane, making a high G-force corkscrew turn that no real airliner can do, in making its descent to strike the Pentagon. But these "hijackers" wanted to make sure Rumsfeld survived so they went out of their way to hit the farthest point in the building from where Rumsfeld and the top brass are located. And this worked out rather well for the military personnel in the Pentagon, since the side that was hit was the part that was under renovation at the time with few military personnel present compared to construction workers. Still more fortuitous for the Pentagon, the side that was hit had just before 9/11 been structurally reinforced to prevent a large fire there from spreading elsewhere in the building. Awful nice of them to pick that part to hit, huh? Then the airliner vaporized itself into nothing but tiny unidentifiable pieces most no bigger than a fist, unlike the crash of a real airliner when you will be able to see at least some identifiable parts, like crumpled wings, broken tail section etc. Why, Hani Hanjour the terrible pilot flew that airliner so good that even though he hit the Pentagon on the ground floor the engines didn't even drag the ground!! Imagine that!! Though the airliner vaporized itself on impact it only made a tiny 16 foot hole in the building. Amazing. Meanwhile, though the planes hitting the Twin Towers caused fires small enough for the firefighters to be heard on their radios saying "We just need 2 hoses and we can knock this fire down" attesting to the small size of it, somehow they must have used magical powers from beyond the grave to make this morph into a raging inferno capable of making the steel on all forty-seven main support columns (not to mention the over 100 smaller support columns) soften and buckle, then all fail at once. Hmmm. Then still more magic was used to make the building totally defy physics as well as common sense in having the uppermost floors pass through the remainder of the building as quickly, meaning as effortlessly, as falling through air, a feat that without magic could only be done with explosives. Then exactly 30 minutes later the North Tower collapses in precisely the same freefall physics-defying manner. Incredible. Not to mention the fact that both collapsed at a uniform rate too, not slowing down, which also defies physics because as the uppermost floors crash into and through each successive floor beneath them they would shed more and more energy each time, thus slowing itself down. Common sense tells you this is not possible without either the hijackers' magical powers or explosives. To emphasize their telekinetic prowess, later in the day they made a third building, WTC # 7, collapse also at freefall rate though no plane or any major debris hit it. Amazing guys these magical hijackers. But we know it had to be "Muslim hijackers" the conspiracy theorist will tell you because (now don't laugh) one of their passports was "found" a couple days later near Ground Zero, miraculously "surviving" the fire that we were told incinerated planes, passengers and black boxes, and also "survived" the collapse of the building it was in. When common sense tells you if that were true then they should start making buildings and airliners out of heavy paper and plastic so as to be "indestructable" like that magic passport. The hijackers even used their magical powers to bring at least seven of their number back to life, to appear at american embassies outraged at being blamed for 9/11!! BBC reported on that and it is still online. Nevertheless, they also used magical powers to make the american government look like it was covering something up in the aftermath of this, what with the hasty removal of the steel debris and having it driven to ports in trucks with GPS locators on them, to be shipped overseas to China and India to be melted down. When common sense again tells you that this is paradoxical in that if the steel was so unimportant that they didn't bother saving some for analysis but so important as to require GPS locators on the trucks with one driver losing his job because he stopped to get lunch. Hmmmm. Further making themselves look guilty, the Bush administration steadfastly refused for over a year to allow a commission to investigate 9/11 to even be formed, only agreeing to it on the conditions that they get to dictate its scope, meaning it was based on the false pretense of the "official story" being true with no other alternatives allowed to be considered, handpicked all its members making sure the ones picked had vested interests in the truth remaining buried, and with Bush and Cheney only "testifying" together, only for an hour, behind closed doors, with their attorneys present and with their "testimonies" not being recorded by tape or even written down in notes. Yes, this whole story smacks of the utmost idiocy and fantastic far-fetched lying, but it is amazingly enough what some people believe. Even now, five years later, the provably false fairy tale of the "nineteen hijackers" is heard repeated again and again, and is accepted without question by so many Americans. Which is itself a testament to the innate psychological cowardice of the American sheeple, i mean people, and their abject willingness to believe something, ANYTHING, no matter how ridiculous in order to avoid facing a scary uncomfortable truth. Time to wake up America.

The best thing the "official" myth has going for it is Americans' natural propensity to only believe what they want to believe, disregarding anything that doesn't fit their narrow belief system or is "too scary to contemplate". Security Council authorized to assist Somalia in political reconciliation and restoration of peace.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America.

January 1993 - Two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

January, 1993 – Saddam Hussein writes a memo encouraging attacks against American soldiers in Mogadishu.

January 19, 1993 - President Bush said in a status report that on December 27, 1992, U.S. aircraft shot down an Iraqi aircraft in the prohibited zone; on January 13 aircraft from the United States and coalition partners had attacked missile bases in southern Iraq; and further military actions had occurred on January 17 and 18. Administration officials said the United States was deploying a battalion task force to Kuwait to underline the continuing U.S. commitment to Kuwaiti independence.

January 21, 1993 - Shortly after his inauguration, President Clinton said the United States would continue the Bush policy on Iraq, and U.S. aircraft fired at targets in Iraq after pilots sensed Iraqi radar or anti-aircraft fire directed at them.

February 26, 1993 - World Trade Center Bombed, killing 6 and injuring over 1000 people - Bill Clinton's response was to warn Americans against "overreacting" and, in an interview on MTV, described the bombing as the work of someone who "did something really stupid." Clinton treated this terrorist attack as a law enforcement issue. The law enforcement reaction was to arrest four followers of Egyptian cleric Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and close the case. Each convicted participant was sentenced to 240 years in prison. The purported mastermind, and nephew of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, was Ramzi Ahmed Yousef entered the United States using an Iraqi passport. Yousef was captured in 1995 and convicted in 1997. There is evidence that Saddam Hussein provided Abdul Rahman Yasin, who mixed the chemicals used in the bombing, with money and housing for his participation in the WTC93 attack after he fled the US to the safety of Baghdad. Abdul Rahman Yasin left the United States using a Kuwaiti passport under the name Abdul Basit Karim, a Kuwaiti who disappeared during Iraq's occupation of Kuwait. Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, perhaps the most senior al-Qaida operative after Osama bin Laden and Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahiri, and his al-Qaida connections provides direct proof of an Iraqi-al Qaida link; and that the law enforcement reaction by the Clinton administration was not enough. Khalid Shaikh Mohammed will go on to mastermind the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center.

February 28, 1993 -- Bosnia-Hercegovina - The United States began an airdrop of relief supplies aimed at Muslims surrounded by Serbian forces in Bosnia.

April 13, 1993 - Bosnia-Hercegovina - President Clinton reported U.S. forces were participating in a NATO air action to enforce a U.N. ban on all unauthorized military flights over Bosnia-Hercegovina.

May 24, 1993 – Iraq - In a status report on Iraq, President Clinton said that on April 9 and April 18 U.S. warplanes had bombed or fired missiles at Iraqi anti-aircraft sites which had tracked U.S. aricraft.

June 10, 1993 – Somalia - President Clinton reported that in response to attacks against U.N. forces in Somalia by a factional leader, the U.S. Quick Reaction Force in the area had participated in military action to quell the violence. The quick reaction force was part of the U.S. contribution to a success On July 1, President Clinton reported further air and ground military operations on June 12 and June 17 aimed at neutralizing military capabilities that had impeded U.N. efforts to deliver humanitarian relief and promote national reconstruction, and additional instances occurred in the following months.

June 19, 1993 – President Clinton said a U.S. aircraft had fired a missile at an Iraqi anti-aircraft site displaying hostile intent.

June 26, 1993 – Iraq - President Clinton reported that U.S. naval forces had launched missiles against the Iraqi Intelligence Service's headquarters in Baghdad in response to an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate former President Bush in Kuwait in April 1993.

June 27, 1993 - US forces launch a cruise missile attack on Iraqi intelligence headquarters in Baghdad in retaliation for the attempted assassination of US President George Bush in Kuwait in April.

October 3, 1993 - 18 American soldiers killed in Somolia. (Black Hawk Down)

May 29, 1994 - Saddam Hussein becomes prime minister.

November 10, 1994 - Iraqi National Assembly recognises Kuwait's borders and its independence.

January 1995 – Ramzi Ahmed Yousef and his associates plotted to blow up eleven or twelve U.S. commercial aircraft in one spectacular day of terrorist rage. The bombs were to be made of a liquid explosive designed to pass through airport metal detectors. But while mixing his chemical brew in a Manila apartment, Yousef started a fire. He was forced to flee, leaving behind a computer that contained the information that led to his arrest a month later in Pakistan. The plot, called "Project Bojinka," involved ramming a fuel-laden airliner into the Pentagon.

April 14, 1995 - UNSC Resolution 986 allows the partial resumption of Iraq's oil exports to buy food and medicine ( the "oil-for-food programme"). It is not accepted by Iraq until May 1996 and is not implemented until December 1996.

April 19, 1995 - Oklahoma City Federal Building Bombed, killing 168 and injuring many more. In the immediate aftermath of the explosion, the FBI launched an international pursuit of several Middle Eastern-looking men seen fleeing the Murrah Building in a brown Chevy pickup right before the blast. Without explanation, that all-points bulletin was later canceled. Two days later, Timothy McVeigh was a household name. So was Terry Nichols.

October 15, 1995 - Saddam Hussein wins a referendum allowing him to remain president for another 7 years.

November 13, 1995 - A bomb was set off in a van parked in front of an American-run military training center in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh, killing five Americans and two Indians. Saudi Arabian authorities arrested four Saudi nationals whom they claim confessed to the bombings, but U.S. officials were denied permission to see or question the suspects before they were convicted and beheaded in May 1996.

1996 - The UN Oil-For-Food program was set up to help Iraqis get food, medicine and other items that had been scarce under sanctions imposed after the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Saddam will eventually realize more than $21 billion under the program through kickbacks and other scams.

March 3, 1996 – U.S. ambassador to Sudan, Tim Carney, Director of East African Affairs at the State Department, David Shinn, and a member of the CIA's directorate of operations' Africa division met with Sudan's then-Minister of State for Defense Elfatih Erwa in a Rosslyn, Virginia hotel room. Item number two on the CIA's list of demands was to provide information about Osama bin Laden.

March 8, 1996 – Sudan’s Minister of State for Defense, Elfatih Erwa met with the CIA officer (3/3/1996) and offered more than information. He offered to arrest and turn over bin Laden himself. Two years earlier, the Sudan had turned over the infamous terrorist, Carlos the Jackal to the French. He now sits in a French prison. Sudan wanted to repeat that scenario with bin Laden in the starring role. Bill Clinton refuses to take OBL because “he had not committed any crimes against the United States”

June 25, 1996 - Khobar Towers Barracks are bombed in Saudi Arabia, killing 19 American Soldiers. The White House also treated this terrorist attack as a law enforcement issue.

July 17, 1996 - TWA Flight 800 explodes on its way from NY to Paris, killing all 230 people onboard. During the investigation, the Clinton administration discredited 270 independent eye witnesses that saw one or more ground-to-air missile(s) strike the airplane. Information uncovered in early 1999 now shows that TWA Flight 800 could have been shot down by one or more shoulder-fired missiles. The FBI was briefed by military missile experts in the Fall of 1996 that Flight 800 was well within the range of a shoulder fired missile.

August 31, 1996 - After call for aid from KDP, Iraqi forces launch offensive into northern no-fly zone and capture Irbil.

September 3, 1996 - US extends northern limit of southern no-fly zone to latitude 33 degrees north, just south of Baghdad.

February 4, 1998 – President Clinton states, "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."

February 17, 1998 – President Clinton states, "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program."

February 18, 1998 – Madeline Albright states, "Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."

February 18, 1998 – Sandy Berger, National Security Adviser states, "He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."

February 23, 1998 - Osama Bin Laden holds a press conference to declare war against the United States.

May 1, 1998 – Sandy Berger blocks a proposed plan to take military action against Bin Laden and other terrorists. The plan, according to the 9-11 commission, was proposed in a meeting in which then-director of the Central Intelligence Agency George Tenet presented a plan to capture Osama bin Laden, notes the New York Sun. "In his meeting with Tenet, Berger focused, however, on the question of what was to be done with Bin Ladin if he were actually captured," the report says, citing a May 1, 1998, CIA memo. "He worried that the hard evidence against Bin Laden was still skimpy and that there was a danger of snatching him and bringing him to the United States only to see him acquitted."

May 27, 1998 - Iraq presented a distribution plan for the implementation of Resolution 1153, which had been adopted on February 20. Under phase three of the "oil-for-food" program, which ran from December 3, 1997, through June 2, 1998, $1.2 billion worth of
humanitarian goods were approved for export to Iraq.

August 5, 1998 – Iraq announces decision to suspend cooperation with UNSCOM and the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

August 7, 1998 - Osama Bin Laden operatives organize simultaneous bombings of the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, killing 200 people, including 12 Americans. This was planned by Khalid Sheik Mohammed. Clinton's response was, "We will use all the means at our disposal to bring those responsible to justice...." blah blah blah...

August 17, 1998 - Bill Clinton admits he lied under oath regarding an "inappropriate relationship" with former White House Intern, Monica Lewinsky

August 20, 1998 - Bill Clinton orders 13 cruise missile strikes on a Sudanese Aspirin Factory, the first significant retaliation for terrorism since President Reagan sent warplanes against Libya in response to the April 5, 1986 Berlin Disco Bombing. Turns out, the owner of the Aspirin Factory retained Legal Services from Vernon Jordan's law firm. Vernon Jordan was a long-time friend of the dishonorable Bill Clinton. This retaliation was at an act that some terrorism experts believe fueled terrorists' conviction that the United States was an ineffectual giant that relied on low-risk high technology

September 9, 1998 - The UNSC unanimously adopted Resolution 1194, which condemns Iraq's August 5 decision as a "totally unacceptable contravention of its obligations," demands that Iraq rescind its decision and resume cooperation, and suspends bimonthly sanctions reviews until UNSCOM and IAEA report that they are satisfied that Iraq has done so.

September 23, 1998 - The P-5 Foreign Ministers issued a statement reiterating that Iraq's actions are "totally unacceptable," and confirmed that "Iraq must respond immediately to Security Council Resolution 1194 and resume full cooperation." The statement also noted that the prerequisite for a comprehensive review was Iraq's "unconditional resumption" of cooperation with UNSCOM and the IAEA.

October 9, 1998 – In a letter to President Clinton, Senators Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry (D-MA), and others write, "We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq 's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."

October 22-3, 1998 - International experts from seven countries met to discuss all analytical results obtained in the course of UNSCOM's verification of Iraq's declarations related to VX activities. Ambassador Butler reported to the U.N. Security Council on October 26 that the international experts "unanimously concluded" that "all analytical data" provided by the United States, Swiss, and French laboratories involved were considered "conclusive and valid."
Ambassador Butler continued, "the existence of VX degradation products conflicts with Iraqi declarations that the unilaterally destroyed special warheads had never been filled with CW agents." The experts recommended that UNSCOM ask Iraq to explain the origin and history of
the fragments analyzed by all three laboratories and the presence of degradation products of nerve agents, and to explain the presence of a compound known as VX stabilizer and its degradation product.

October 31, 1998 - Iraq announced that it was ceasing all cooperation with the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) including monitoring activity. The UNSC issued a statement condemning Iraq's decision as a "flagrant violation of relevant Council resolutions and of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Secretary General and the deputy Prime Minister of Iraq"

October 31, 1998 – President Clinton signed into law the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998. Work also continues on the existing opposition program to help opposition groups unify politically, and the new Radio Free Iraq service began broadcasting in late October. These new programs will help us encourage the Iraqi people to build a pluralistic, peaceful Iraq that observes the international rule of law and respects basic human rights.

November 1998 - President William J. Clinton warned Iraqi leadership that force would be used if they continued to hamper United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) inspectors efforts. This operation, dubbed Desert Fox, was a rapid and intense use of air power that lasted four days (17-20 December 1998), ending on the first day of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim year during which Muslim believers must fast between dawn and dusk. It was also the first operation that used B-1B Lancer bomber aircraft in a combat role. As in earlier confrontations between coalition forces and Iraqi military forces in the Persian Gulf, the intent was to show the coalition's resolve to continue to support the UN's monitoring effort. This was basically the "straw that broke the camel's back" in the year-long tug of war between Hussein and the coalition. In fact, the US deployed forces to the Persian Gulf in February 1998 as part of operation Desert Thunder. Like confrontations in the past, Hussein selected a time when the US and her European allies were busy with preparing for another situation, again in the former republic of Yugoslavia.

December 16, 1998 – Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) states, "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."

December 16, 1998 - United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) military forces launched cruise missile attacks against military targets in Iraq in Operation Desert Fox. These strikes were ordered by the President of the United States and were undertaken in response to Iraq's continued failure to comply with United Nations Security Council resolutions as well as their interference with United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) inspectors. The strikes were designed to deliver a serous blow to Saddam Hussein's capability to manufacture, store, maintain and deliver weapons of mass destruction and his ability to threaten or otherwise intimidate his neighbors.
December 19, 1998 -The House passed two out of four articles of impeachment against Clinton. Article One, charging that he committed perjury before the grand jury, passed 228 to 206. Article Two, perjury in the Paula Jones civil case, was defeated, 229 to 205. Article Three, obstruction of justice, passed 221 to 212, and Article Four, abuse of power, was defeated, 285 to 148
January 14, 1999 - France, making a formal break with the United States and Britain, proposed on Wednesday that the Security Council lift the oil embargo on Iraq and institute a new weapons monitoring system to prevent Saddam Hussein from rearming.

January 22, 1999 - White House terrorism czar Richard Clarke states that the U.S. is "sure" that the Iraqis were the sinister force behind the Aspirin Factory. <-- Wait a minute...Was the strike in retaliation for Osama Bin Laden's Embassy bombing? Or was it because of Iraq? We know today that there absolutely could not be a link between the two....or could there?

March 24, 1999 – NATO starts heavily bombing Yugoslavia in the Kosovo War. Albanian fighters continued to attack Serbian forces and Kosovo Serb civilians, and Serbian/Yugoslav forces continued to fight Albanian rebels, amidst a massive displacement of the population of Kosovo

June 1999 – Sandy Berger blocks another proposed plan to take military action against Bin Laden and other terrorists. The potential target was an al-Qaida terrorist camp in Afghanistan known as Tarnak Farms. But the 9-11 commission cites Berger's handwritten notes on the meeting paper, which referred to "the presence of 7 to 11 families in the Tarnak Farms facility, which could mean 60-65 casualties." The Berger notes said, "if he responds, we're blamed." (9-11 commission)

June 10, 1999 – Kosovo bombing stops

September 1999 - The first documented contact between Former President Carter and Samir. Vincent had organized a tour of Iraqi religious leaders to meet with individuals in the United States who might be persuaded to speak out against the sanctions against Iraq. The trip also included discussions of ways to oppose U.S. and U.K. air strikes against Iraqi missile batteries in southern Iraq, which had fired on American and British aircraft engaged in enforcing the southern "No Fly Zone."

November 10, 1999 – Madeline Albright, Secretary of State, states, "Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."

December 4, 1999 – Sandy Berger blocks another proposed plan to take military action against Bin Laden and other terrorists. National Security Council counterterrorism coordinator Richard Clarke sent Berger a memo suggesting a strike against al-Qaida camps in Afghanistan. According to the commission, however, in the "margin next to Clarke's suggestion to attack Al Qaeda facilities in the week before January 1, 2000, Berger wrote, 'no.'“ (9-11 commission)

December 17, 1999 - UNSC Resolution 1284 creates the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (Unmovic) to replace Unscom. Iraq rejects the resolution.

August 2000 – Sandy Berger blocks another proposed plan to take military action against Bin Laden and other terrorists. Berger was presented with a plan to attack bin Laden based on aerial surveillance from a "Predator" drone. "In the memo’s margin," the commission said, "Berger wrote that before considering action, 'I will want more than verified location: we will need, at least, data on pattern of movements to provide some assurance he will remain in place.'" (9-11 commission)

October 12, 2000 - Osama bin Laden operatives kill 17 and wounding 39 US Sailors in the bombing of the USS Cole. This was planned by Khalid Sheik Mohammed. Clinton's response, "We will find out who was responsible and hold them accountable," blah blah blah
January 19, 2001, after hammering out a plea bargain that allowed him to avoid prosecution and possible jail time, Clinton issued a carefully worded statement to meet independent counsel Ray's terms:
"I tried to walk a fine line between acting lawfully and testifying falsely," Clinton said in a statement read by his press secretary, Jake Siewert. "But I now recognize that I did not fully accomplish that goal and that certain of my responses to questions about Ms. Lewinsky were false."
January, 2001 - President Clinton's eleventh-hour pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich has sparked a firestorm of controversy, launching investigations in both houses of Congress and igniting fierce protest from both Democrats and Republicans. The federal prosecutors who indicted Rich are especially livid, particularly because, by definition, Rich appears to be ineligible for a pardon: He never took responsibility for his actions or served any sentence. In testimony Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, U.S. pardon attorney Roger Adams says when the White House sent over Rich's name for pardon consideration — only a few hours before the President was due to leave office — there was never any mention of Rich being a fugitive. There is also suspicion that donations made to Clinton campaigns and to the Clinton presidential library by Rich's ex-wife, Denise, could be a quid pro quo for the pardon.

February 18, 2001 – Clinton defends his Marc Rich pardon by stating "Two highly regarded tax experts, Bernard Wolfman of Harvard Law School and Martin Ginsburg of Georgetown University Law Center, reviewed the transactions in question and concluded that the companies 'were correct in their U.S. income tax treatment of all the items in question, and [that] there was no unreported federal income or additional tax liability attributable to any of the [challenged] transactions.'" Clinton failed to mention that the tax experts were paid by Marc Rich and, as such, do not represent an independent view.

February, 2001 - Britain, US carry out bombing raids to try to disable Iraq's air defence network. The bombings have little international support.
February, 2001 - Ex-fugitive Marc Rich becomes one of Saddam Hussein's middlemen in Iraq's illegal oil trade just a month after he won a controversial pardon from former President Bill Clinton. (reported 12/2/2004).

April, 2001 - Mohamed Atta, the lead hijacker, and an Iraqi intelligence official meet in Prague, Czech Republic, according to the Czech Secret Service. This is currently no proof that this meeting did take place, as well as no proof that the meeting did not take place. Only the word of the Czech Secret Service.

September 11, 2001

December 5, 2001 – Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) and others write to President Bush, "There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."

May 6, 2002 - The Bush Administration formally renounced any commitment to join the ICC or recognize its jurisdiction, citing fundamental structural flaws that would allow the court to undermine the role of the U.N. Security Council in maintaining international peace and security, as well as concerns over unchecked prosecutorial power and efforts to assert jurisdiction over citizens of states that have not ratified the treaty.

September, 2002 - US President George W Bush tells sceptical world leaders at a UN General Assembly session to confront the "grave and gathering danger" of Iraq - or stand aside as the US acts. In the same month British Prime Minister Tony Blair publishes a dossier on Iraq's military capability.

September 19, 2002 – Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) states, "We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."

September 23, 2002 – Al Gore states, "We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." Al Gore also states on the same day, "Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power

September 27, 2002 - Senator Ted “Mary Jo Kopechne“ Kennedy (D-MA) states, "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."

October 3, 2002 – Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) states, "The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."

October 9, 2002 – Senator John Kerry (D-MA) states, "I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."

October 10, 2002 – Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) states, "There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years .... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."

October 10, 2002 – Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA) states, "He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do."

October 10, 2002 – Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) states, "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapon stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

November, 2002 - UN weapons inspectors return to Iraq backed by a UN resolution which threatens serious consequences if Iraq is in "material breach" of its terms.

December 8, 2002 – Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) states, "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."

January 23, 2003 – Senator John Kerry (D-MA) states, "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real."

March, 2003 - Chief weapons inspector Hans Blix reports that Iraq has accelerated its cooperation but says inspectors need more time to verify Iraq's compliance.

March 17, 2003 - UK's ambassador to the UN says the diplomatic process on Iraq has ended; arms inspectors evacuate; US President George W Bush gives Saddam Hussein and his sons 48 hours to leave Iraq or face war.

March 19, 2003 – Operation Iraqi Freedom begins. 250,000 United States troops, with support from approximately 45,000 British, 2,000 Australian and 200 Polish combat forces, entered Iraq primarily through their staging area in Kuwait.

April 9, 2003 – U.S. forces take control of Baghdad, forcing Saddam Hussein to go on the run and stay in hiding until he is captured. (see December 13, 2003). In the following days Kurdish fighters and US forces take control of the northern cities of Kirkuk and Mosul. There is widespread looting in the capital and other cities.

April, 2003 – Mohammed Abbas (see October 1985) captured in Baghdad as he tried to escape to neighboring Syria, Middle East Newsline reported.

May, 2003 - UN Security Council approves resolution backing US-led administration in Iraq and lifting of economic sanctions. US administrator abolishes Baath Party and institutions of former regime.

July 2003 - US-appointed Governing Council meets for first time. Commander of US forces says his troops face low-intensity guerrilla-style war. Saddam's sons Uday and Qusay killed in gun battle in Mosul.

August, 2003 - Bomb attack at Jordanian embassy in Baghdad kills 11; attack at UN HQ in Baghdad kills 22 including UN's chief envoy. Saddam's cousin Ali Hassan al-Majid, or Chemical Ali, captured. Car bomb in Najaf kills 125 including Shia leader Ayatollah Mohammed Baqr al-Hakim.

December 13, 2003 – Operation Red Dawn - 600 U.S. troops, without firing a single shot, captured Saddam Hussein as he hid in the bottom of a hole at a farmhouse near Tikrit on Saturday. The former Iraqi dictator was captured Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the cellar of a farmhouse in the town of Adwar (search), 10 miles from Tikrit, ending one of the most intense manhunts in history. "He was caught like a rat," said Maj. Gen. Ray Odierno (search) of the 4th Infantry Division at a separate press conference in Tikrit. “It was ironic that he was in a hole in the ground across the river from the great palaces her built using all the money he robbed from the Iraqi people.” Troops with Task Force 21, the special forces unit set up to go after Saddam, surrounded a farmhouse and looked for the ex-dictator in two specific locations -- dubbed Wolverine One and Wolverine Two -- but initially did not locate him. The search of the home continued and troops discovered something in the ground called a "spider hole." The hole was six to eight feet deep, with enough space to lie down, camouflaged with bricks and dirt and supplied with an air vent to allow long periods inside.

July 19, 2004 – Former President Clinton’s National Security Adviser, Sandy Berger, and Berger’s lawyer admit Berger knowingly removed handwritten notes he stole from classified anti-terror documents stored in the National Archives by sticking them in his jacket and pants. The Media buries the reports and gives Berger a pass by not investigating what information was stolen, what was destroyed, and what was returned. Not all documents were returned to the National Archives and the documents were taken prior to the 9/11 Committee Investigation.

July 30, 2004 - A suicide bomber detonated explosives outside the US embassy in Tashkent, while the Israeli embassy in the city was also targeted. A third blast went off near the office of Uzbekistan's general prosecutor. The attacks come as series of trials are being held against alleged Islamist extremists accused of being involved in shootings and explosions.
Fifteen suspects have pleaded guilty to charges of terrorism, murder and religious extremism. Nobody was injured at the US Embassy, but 2 were killed and 9 injured in the three blasts.

January 18, 2005 - Samir Vincent (See Jimmy Carter, September 1999) admitted to receiving allocations for more than 9 million barrels of oil between 1996 and 2003 in return for serving as an agent of Saddam Hussein's regime. Vincent worked at Hussein's direction, lobbying U.S. and U.N. officials to end sanctions and to instead implement the oil-for-food scam

June 7, 2006 – An Air Force F-16 dropped two 500-pound bombs on the safe house near Baquba where al-Zarqawi was meeting with associates.
