The Rudy & Judy Marital Mess

"Judy, Judy, Judy..." So you’ve been married three times, not two as you’ve previously reported. Judy Giuliani’s new revelation puts her in fine company: an astounding nine marriages between her, hubby Rudy and his 2008 presidential challenger Newt Gingrich. Maybe I’m missing something here, but this is the sacred institution that their party is trying to keep homosexuals from destroying? It’s this embarrassing hypocrisy that could have a very interesting impact on the next election.

Rudy Giuliani wants to be president. He wants it so bad he practically drools like a Pavlovian pup every time he talks about it. But is the country ready for him? More important, are conservatives ready for a thrice married, cross-dressing, pro-abortion candidate who shacked up with his gay pal after he cheated on his wife and left her for Judy, Judy, Judy? And the fact that his kids won’t talk with him because of it doesn’t help his image any.

While Rudy continues to maintain his front-runner status among Republicans, there is growing concern in GOP circles that his personal life is going to impede his political aspirations; that his campaign could implode as more juicy tidbits surface about his dysfunctional past (and present, if you count his penchant for Bob Mackey-type gowns and poorly applied make-up). His marital track record, his philandering, his estrangement from his kids and his strange dressing habits do not jive with the base and what it stands for. And his positions on the war don’t jive with the rest of the country. The only card he plays well, unjustifiably, is the terror card.

Let’s go back in time a bit. On September 10, 2001 Rudy Giuliani was a highly unpopular mayor of New York City with an abysmal 40% approval rating. He was viewed as an arrogant, stubborn bully insensitive to the plight of minorities and the poor, and with a weak record on everything except fighting crime. And somehow, by the sheer virtue that he was in office the following day, he has infuriatingly claimed the mantle of hero; the tough guy who can kick terror’s ass. And what did he actually do that day to merit such reverential status? He simply had the misfortune, like thousands of others, to be at the World Trade site that morning, only unlike thousands, he was lucky to run from the carnage and spare his own life...for all to see on the 6 o’clock news. It made for great political theatre, and it allowed a pretty crappy mayor to instantly gain the national currency necessary to further his dream of one day becoming a pretty crappy U.S. president.

Since September 11, 2001 The Honorable Drag Queen has exploited the worst tragedy in U.S. history at every turn, criss-crossing the country giving speech after self-aggrandizing speech about his larger-than-life status as a 911 hero. But as he seeks the most important job in the world, and as we approach the 2008 presidential election, no one should ever forget Randy Rudy’s attempt to circumvent America’s democratic principles for his own political gain. Let’s all remember how this narcissistic, shameless opportunist attempted to have New York’s November ‘01 mayoral election postponed so that the self-anointed great one could indefinitely stay in office and save the city as it dug itself out from its ghastly horror. This blatant disregard for our Democratic process, not the Rudy & Judy marital mess, is just one of the many reasons for keeping him out of the White House.

On another subject......we could use your help at The Adrienne Shelly Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated in my wife's honor to help carry out her spirit and passion, with the goal of assisting women filmmakers. As you may know, Adrienne was brutally killed in NYC on November 1, 2006. Through the Foundation, her commitment to filmmkaing lives on. We've finalized a scholarship with NYU's Tisch School of the Arts/Kanbar Institute of Film; and grants with Columbia University, American Film Institute, NY Women in Film and Television, and the Independent Feature Project. Other initiatives will follow. Please visit our website to learn more about our mission and to make a donation. Every little contribution helps preserve Adrienne's legacy, and to help create something positive out of this horrible tragedy. Thank you.

Adrienne's film "Waitress" will hit theatres May 2nd. Early reviews have been terrific. A link to the trailer is below. Enjoy.

Rudy had one shining moment. largely because of the void of leadership from the Presidnet in the wake of 9/11.
That's not enough to elect him as Prez.

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with VJ Jetley, 12:03. Rudy will be our next president if something forceful doesn't happen. The Religious Right will "forgive him his sins" rather than elect a pro-life/pro-gay candidate, However issues or past "sins" won't even be considered if Clinton or Obama is the candidate because neither a woman nor a black can be elected at this time. The misogynists are already hammering Clinton over issues like clothes, hair, motherhood and her "strident" voice. As for Obama, think of all the latent racial remarks we've heard in the recent past from Trent Lott, Biden and I dare say your neighbors. Conservative Democrats and Independents will join the Republicans and vote for Rudy because he's liberal enough for them to do so without too much worry. Rudy will please both sides.

The main reason for Giuliani having a reputation for fighting crime was due to the fact that with the NYPD routinely shooting unarmed innocent civilians at an unprecedented rate, it may have had the effect of scaring the REAL criminals into lying low.

Crime may have been down among criminals, but it was way up among policemen, as the unprecedented millions paid out in damage suits clearly attest.

Another hare-brained notion of Giuliani's was his proposal that recovering heroin addicts be denied methadone treatment because, after all, addiction was a character flaw and a sign of personal weakness.

While drug policy may be a touchy subject for many, this idea is so spectacularly asinine as to be in a league by itself.

Anonymous said...

Rudy's belief that addiction is a character flaw will endear him to the Conservatives who will forgive him everything else. They believe addiction and poverty are the results of character flaws -- the poor are too lazy to work and they spend their money on vodka (remember Reagan?) They also will admire the way he does "whatever it takes" no matter the damage or the law. He'll be the Republican candidate for sure.

Our values should transcend political parties.

Should we really be upset if the Republicans choose to nominate someone who is 1)pro-gun control; 2)pro-choice; 3)pro-gay rights; 4)quite willing to raise taxes to meet the essential needs of the people?

The fact that such a candidate appears to be among the top tier Republican contenders suggests that values espoused by Democrats are spreading. Oh, there's plenty to object to about Rudy, but if he IS the nominee, shouldn't we praise him for rejecting the last generation of Republican values?

Giuliani is such a repressive, self-aggrandizing, nit-picking, fascist control freak that if he ever became President (trust me, he won't!) even proud liberals like myself will feel as nostalgic about Bush as we now ironically feel about Nixon!

Trust me on this one. New Yorkers think they are usually a step ahead of the rest of the nation on most things, and on this one, due to personal experience, we actually ARE! ;)

Just heard you on Rachel's show - you sounded good, and I'm always glad to hear more buzz for Al Gore. (And, personally, I've always thought he'd be great to have coffee with. Think of all the stuff you could talk about!)

I still have a few questions for Al, though. I want to hear what he has to say, now, about NAFTA and all that. But I do think he may just be the guy we need.

I drive a hummer that gets 8 miles per gallon. Don't worry, I bought carbon offsets. Thanks to my carbon offset purchase, I can pollute 20 times more than the average american and silly liberals will praise me.

Hey, anyone notice Al Gore's carbon buttprint is larger than his carbon footprint? I guess he gave up the exercise equipment to save the earth.

What's he going to give up to save the Global Warming that Mars is experiencing?

Anonymous said...

What's your point, 11:49AM?

Anonymous said...

I think it is important that someone tells everybody how Ex-mayor Giuliani curbed individual rights in NYC when he was mayor. I'm from here and most new yorkers think he was an arrogant asshole, who claim to fame was reducing crime. Otherwise, an average citizen couldn't sit on a milk crate. He is against the common man of the middle class because he is against unions. The only unions he defends are the FDNY and NYPD.

You're small-minded, aggressively hateful rant is almost funny. Out of curiosity: Have you ever had fun in your life?? The "Cross Dressing" wasn't part of his lifestyle where he was appearing as Marilyn Monroe at a drag show; he was joking. Does anyone remember J. Edgar Hoover? That's a cross dresser! I was on the fence about who to like until I actually saw Rudy speak at a rally. He is a smart man with good ideas on the war, terror, and healthcare. Honestly, if the republicans (and most democrats, for that matter) have the choice between the thrice-married Rudy and the lying, power-hungry, crazed Hillary; they're choosing Rudy.

Anonymous said...

By the way-- I meant to write "your" at the top!

Anonymous said...

As a tolerant liberal, I am most certainly not offended by Rudy's "dressing up" as I see it as something more akin to a "Monty Python" sketch than a kinky Provincetown/Las Vegas drag show.

The reason why it is being exploited the way it has is precisely because this type of harmless theatricality is what will precisely offend and upset the Repugs hard-core constituency, without whose support no candidate can ever dream of capturing that perty's nomination.

I am speaking of the intolerant religious zealots, bigots, in-denial closet-case homophobes, ignorant jingoistic 'gung-ho' flag fetishists, constitution-burners, crypto-fascists, racists, and just plain haters who every prospective Republican candidate must seek to pass the litmus test of.

Pictures of Rudy cavorting merrily in drag is potential kryptonite for his seemingly invincible bid, and that is why we are showing it every chance we get.

Take that, smear-mongers! A little bit of your own medicine for a change, we hope you choke on it!

Bring it on!

Peace & Love! :)

Dear Al Qaeda:

We know that things in Iraq have been a bit tough for you lately. President Bush's determination to bring stability to Iraq through an increase in the number of troops has been showing results .. and even more troops are on the way. Because of the troop surge you have seen a decline in the number of American troops you and your Islamic fascist buddies have been able to kill. Because of the increased level of security in Baghdad the Iraqi people were starting to feel better about their future. You know this, even though the American people may not. You're close to the situation so you can readily see the changing conditions. The American people are insulated from this reality by a media apparatus that is more concerned with the destruction of President Bush than to the success of our efforts in Iraq.

All in all, it was getting to be a pretty depressing picture for you and your terrorist pals.

Well ... cheer up. Things are about to change. After a rather close vote in the U.S. Senate today you are one step closer to knowing an exact de upon which all U.S. troops will be withdrawn from Iraq. As we're sure your political analysts will tell you, setting a specific date for withdrawal. We're sure you realize that you cannot commit yourself to victory and to a date-specific withdrawal at the same time. You select one course of action, or the other.

Take heart, too, in the fact that other nations and regimes in the Middle East have now seen further evidence that the United States does not have the political will to commit itself to victory. Your tactic of waging a war of attrition against American troops has been validated. The American people, having heard a preponderance of negative news from their media, are calling for capitulation. They've become complacent after five years have passed since 9/11 with no terrorists attacks in our country. Oh, there have been some isolated incidents of mad Muslims shooting up shopping malls and mowing innocents down with their cars ... but nothing major to rekindle their determination. Was this your plan all along? Somehow we think that you are that clever ... and if that's the case, this element of your grand plan has also worked very well.

You now realize that you can advance your radical Islamist goals throughout the Middle East, and perhaps into Europe, without any fear of retaliation or interference from the United States. The will to fight is lost. The desire for victory has died. The American people have become fat, lazy and complacent. They no longer see either their freedom or their culture as something they are willing to fight for. It must be heady days indeed in your caves and tents. Hard to imagine, isn't it? Al Qaeda actually has more determination to see their cause through than the great United States of America! Perhaps that's because you're dedicated to the cause of the spread of Islam, while the American people have lost their dedication to the cause of liberty. Complacency will do that to you.

We do have one word of caution for you. You and your Islamic terrorist buddies have been the beneficiaries of the aftermath of the 2000 presidential election in the United States. That election, and the close vote in our State of Florida, created a sense of hatred and resentment in Democrats against our president such as has never been seen before in our history. From that moment on Democrats and liberals in the U.S. were steadfastly dedicated to the idea of the destruction of the Bush presidency. Oh, to be sure, there were a few weeks of solidarity following your attacks of 9/11, but it didn't last. When the panic subsided Democrats suddenly realized that any measure of success in the war against you might actually strengthen the Republican hold on power. It didn't take Democrats long to decide that their hatred of George Bush, and their desire to see his presidency destroyed, absolutely outweighed any concerns they had about protecting our people from another one of your vicious attacks. Democrats have convinced themselves that, once they have gained full control of our government, a few "we feel your pain" comments directed at your murdering Islamic followers will be all that is needed to put the Western world and the wonderful, peaceful, serene religion of Islam around a desert campfire singing rousing renditions of Kumbaya. You just need to be aware that there is a chance, though slight, that the Democrats might actually decide that our culture is worth fighting for ... if they can first rid our country of the Bush pestilence.

At any rate .. the Senate has now set a deadline. If the bill makes it to the president's desk he says he will veto it. Some feel, however, that when the president realizes that the legislation merely sets a date certain for our capitulation to you in Iraq, and doesn't open the doors to any additional stem cell research, he will decide that a veto is not warranted. So ... just sit tight. Save your energy. Catch your breath. Cool it. You may soon know the exact date that you one day commemorate as the date you chased the infidels out of Iraq. This could well be the date you will remember as the beginning of the final steps toward your 12th Caliphate and the cause of world domination under Islamic law.

You are small but determined to see your dreams of domination come true. America is strong but complacent and unwilling to fight for the cause of liberty. Time to ferment some goat's milk for a toast!

Yours truly

America the Timid.

Dear Mr. Timid,

You seem moved to participate in our war in Iraq in a way most Americans have not been called upon to do. I hope your long lament is your last communication as a civilian to the rest of us. I hope you will soon be wearing your American soldier's uniform, on your way to Iraq to show them who's boss. Before you go I pray you enlist your church, your wife, your family, your club, your friends and all you know to march on Washington and demand that the draft be revived at once. The the cause you're so passionate about will be shared by all. Perhaps, we'll even see how the Republicans really feel about this war.

Anti War

Anti War,

Republicans are against the draft. Only democrats are for a draft.

Good luck fighting Global Warming. Have you returned your car yet?

Anonymous said...

Hey - 6:48 Duh!!!!!!

That was the point of the Anti War email. We KNOW Republicans are against the war if it means they have to make some sacrifices themselves. They want to keep those big bucks coming in without losing one life of their own children. What does Global Warming have to do with -- Never mind.

Anonymous said...

Timid America,

Oh, is that you heading down to the recruiter's office? If not, then all you did was vent hot air. With those unseasonal high temperatures many are experiencing, the planet doesn't need any more hot air.

So, help solve the problems of America by putting your ideals in uniform and doin' some good!

Anonymous said...

The point is the Democrats want to fight Global Warming, but not if they have to make sacrifices themselves. Just like Al Gore - "Do as I say, Not as I do".

If Republicans that think we need to fight terrorists in Iraq have to enlist, then Democrats that think we need to fight Global Warming should have to return their cars.

Anonymous said...

Only your opinion 11:10 am. "Should" statements reflect rhetoric and personal opinion without factual backup. Have you actually heard Dems say they won't do green things? Besides, this section is about Rudy *Do as a GOP conservative not as my affair-having three marriage butt*!! Hipocracy is everywhere, my friend.

Anonymous said...

Al Gore's utility bills are 20 times higher than the average american that he likes to preach to.

Al Gore only flies personal jets - no commercial air travel for the elitist

Al Gore makes a lot of money from a zinc mine in TN, which happens to be one of the biggest polluters in the country

Al Gore needs 7+ SUVs to caravan him everywhere he goes, except when he is on a personal jet

whenever I state that I believe we are correct for liberating Iraq of Saddam Hussein, liberals always tell me to enlist. So if I have to enlist because of my beliefs, liberals should have to stop driving cars because of their beliefs.

Graciously, Gore tells consumers how to change their lives to curb their carbon-gobbling ways: Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs, use a clothesline, drive a hybrid, use renewable energy, dramatically cut back on consumption. Better still, responsible global citizens can follow Gore's example, because, as he readily points out in his speeches, he lives a "carbon-neutral lifestyle." But if Al Gore is the world's role model for ecology, the planet is doomed.

For someone who says the sky is falling, he does very little. He says he recycles and drives a hybrid. And he claims he uses renewable energy credits to offset the pollution he produces when using a private jet to promote his film. (In reality, Paramount Classics, the film's distributor, pays this.)

Public records reveal that as Gore lectures Americans on excessive consumption, he and his wife Tipper live in two properties: a 10,000-square-foot, 20-room, eight-bathroom home in Nashville, and a 4,000-square-foot home in Arlington, Va. (He also has a third home in Carthage, Tenn.) For someone rallying the planet to pursue a path of extreme personal sacrifice, Gore requires little from himself.

Then there is the troubling matter of his energy use. In the Washington, D.C., area, utility companies offer wind energy as an alternative to traditional energy. In Nashville, similar programs exist. Utility customers must simply pay a few extra pennies per kilowatt hour, and they can continue living their carbon-neutral lifestyles knowing that they are supporting wind energy. Plenty of businesses and institutions have signed up. Even the Bush administration is using green energy for some federal office buildings, as are thousands of area residents.

But according to public records, there is no evidence that Gore has signed up to use green energy in either of his large residences. When contacted Wednesday, Gore's office confirmed as much but said the Gores were looking into making the switch at both homes. Talk about inconvenient truths.

Gore is not alone. Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean has said, "Global warming is happening, and it threatens our very existence." The DNC website applauds the fact that Gore has "tried to move people to act." Yet, astoundingly, Gore's persuasive powers have failed to convince his own party: The DNC has not signed up to pay an additional two pennies a kilowatt hour to go green. For that matter, neither has the Republican National Committee.

Maybe our very existence isn't threatened.

Gore has held these apocalyptic views about the environment for some time. So why, then, didn't Gore dump his family's large stock holdings in Occidental (Oxy) Petroleum? As executor of his family's trust, over the years Gore has controlled hundreds of thousands of dollars in Oxy stock. Oxy has been mired in controversy over oil drilling in ecologically sensitive areas.

Living carbon-neutral apparently doesn't mean living oil-stock free. Nor does it necessarily mean giving up a mining royalty either.

Humanity might be "sitting on a ticking time bomb," but Gore's home in Carthage is sitting on a zinc mine. Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River.

The issue here is not simply Gore's hypocrisy; it's a question of credibility. If he genuinely believes the apocalyptic vision he has put forth and calls for radical changes in the way other people live, why hasn't he made any radical change in his life? Giving up the zinc mine or one of his homes is not asking much, given that he wants the rest of us to radically change our lives.

After reading all of the previous comments, I'm stunned to hear these Republicans attacking Gore's wealth. These are the people who adore the rich. They cut taxes for the rich; they run huge corporations and steal from their workers to enrich themselves; they have an "ole boys' club" that bestows contract to make even more money at the expense of our soldiers, Repiblicans love the rich. Yet, Gore and Edwards, who by the way was poor and earned his money, are attacked for their wealth. How schizoid. And, as for giving up my car, I would gladly buy a hybrid and have solar energy if I could afford to. I'm in the middle class which is being destroyed by the rich. However, it costs nothing to march to a recruiting office and offer your service to fight in our army. You Repubplicans are talking apples and oranges.

Anonymous said...

anonymous 4:05 pm,
You are wrong. They are not attacking Al Gore's wealth, they are attacking the liberal double standard and Al Gore's hipocracy. Don't worry, if you really want to save the earth from Global Warming, you can purchase that hybrid you claim to want. I'm in the middle class and have no problems purchasing anything that I feel is necessary. You could too, if you were serious with your prioritization. If the liberal alarmists are correct, which they aren't, then Global Warming is a much bigger threat than the war in Iraq.
Also, keep in mind that the average American living in poverty lives better than the average European. Keep your car, your cell phone, internet, microwave, multiple television sets, and keep telling yourself that it's someone else's job to fight Global Warming. You would if you could, but "the man" is keeping you down.

Anonymous said...

"The Man"? That's the best excuse heard, yet!!!! Try responsible choices at the personal level to help curb global warming or a repeat of the a**h*le we have as president. The operative words are responsible, choice, and personal. That's right, only you, dear reader, can make a change. If you're too busy whining about liberals and Gore, you're not looking in the mirror!

Anonymous said...

5:11 It sounded like an attack on Gore's wealth to me. And, you people keep forgetting his huge energy bill is the result of his paying for a source that does not pollute so much. YOu people just overlook the truth. And your arrogance in telling me what I can afford would be beyond belief if such arrogance were not becoming the trademark of Republicans. And, your condescending remark about the poor, reminiscent of Barbara Bush's in New Orleans after Katrina, is also typical of Republicans. "How dare the poor complain.: They have it so much better than those poor folks living on the streets of Calcutta. Of course, you presume to know the financial affairs of the poor, too. You don't know what is charged, perhaps their food. One must have a car if one has a job because very few places but big cities have public transportation; and, yes, the local handyman who works for minimum has several TV sets that were discarded by his middle class "clients." No cable, don't you know. Yet, you have the audacity to call Democrats hypocrits.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of hypocrisy, you blast the Republicans for opposing gay marriage, and then you make fun of Rudi for dressing as a woman. What gives?

Also, I remember Giuliani as a responsible leader after Sept. 11, striking the right chords of calm determination, not just for New York but for the nation.

And why exactly do you say he was a crappy mayor? Maybe you don't value the fact that he cut crime.

Bottom line: you're a vicious partisan hack.
