The Rush to Kiss Rush's Ass

Something funny is happening in Washington. Within the Republican Party. Something that's music to Democrats' ears. It seems that desperate and disillusioned conservatives, not having learned their lessons from the November election--or worse, still reeling from it--are allowing the rabid right wing talking head Rush Limbaugh to hijack the party. And God help anyone who criticizes him and his sanctimonious, self-aggrandizing rants. They're skewered on-air and humiliatingly brought to their knees, forced into a quick and embarrassing apology.

The latest mea culpa came from Michael Steele, the new chairman of the National Republican Committee who, over the weekend, had the balls to sharply criticize Limbaugh for wishing failure on President Barack Obama during his speech to equally rabid attendees of the Conservative Political action Conference, the annual right-wing lovefest that featured both party luminaries and rebel-rousers including Newt Gingrich, Ralph Reed, Ann Coulter and yes, even the ubiquitous Joe the Plumber.
Limbaugh had whipped the staunchly conservative audience into a near-frenzy with his attack on the president: "So what is so strange about being honest to say that I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation?"

In response to a CNN reporter's comment that Limbaugh is the de facto head of the Party, Steele tersely replied "No he's not. I'm the de facto head of the Republican Party. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh, the whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it's incendiary. Yes, it's ugly." And yes, it royally pissed off Limbaugh so much that it sent him into another round of his standard derisive radio rage.

"It's time, Mr. Steele, for you to go behind the scenes and start doing the work that you were elected to do instead of trying to be some talking head media star, which you're having a tough time pulling off. You are head of the RNC. You see not head of the Republican Party. Tens of millions of conservatives and Republicans have nothing to do with the RNC, and right now they want nothing to do with it." Oh no he di-int! Apparently, hell hath no fury like a bloviating partisan pundit scorned.

Steele follows GOP Congressman Phil Gingrey of Georgia who in January was also publicly harangued into kissing Limbaugh's ring after intimating that the radio host was crossing the line with his critiques of House Republicans.

What's going on here? Didn't voters overwhelmingly reject the brand of hard core conservativism that Limbaugh spews every day? Don't Limbaugh's views appeal to just a small, ever-shrinking, myopic and increasingly obsolete GOP base? Just what are Republicans so afraid of then? Why is it that they clearly reject him when speaking candidly and viscerally about the future direction of the party, only to later tuck tail between legs, retract, parse and apologize? The answer is simple: they fear the shitstorm Limbaugh will relentlessly and mercilessly unleash before his alleged 22-million punishing listeners at election time if they don't.

Thanks to these spineless GOP leaders, and much to the delight of Obama, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Democrats everywhere, Limbaugh's become the Party's Tony Soprano. To be sure, he's clearly getting off on the power trip and, much like his TV counterpart, will bloody anyone who gets in his way. And that makes the left quite happy. With Limbaugh steering the ship, there's sure to be another Republican Titanic in 2010.

I believe Rush deserves an apology.

Rush limbaugh actually said something that was true once. That was about 15 years or so ago. He said that everybody that eats carrots will die. I could not disagree with that. I disagree with every thing else he has said though. I tied to disagree with him on air twice, but when his call screener found out that I was intellegent and could articulate my thoughts, the screener hung up on me both times. If you call in in disagreement, you must not appear smarter than "Pills". After all he has half his brain tied behind his back and he has sat on it so often, it is now hopelessly stuck up inside his massive butt.

I am a Democrat who is fast becoming an Independent.

I am so tired of the lies and distortions from both sides that I don't want to associate with either side. Limbaugh said he wanted Obama to FAIL IF HE CONTINUED TO PUSH HIS SOCIALISTIC POLICIES. LImbaugh said he wants our country to succeed as it was inTended by the founders. He wants capitalism to remain. He wants Obama's POLICIES to FAIL. I heard the original interview. I, too, do not want my coutnry to become a socialist country.

I wish Obama would stay in his office and fix things -- I'm tired of his PR appearances. And I wish he wouldn't appease Russia and Canada and England.

Let's see.

The Demonrats had pretty much complete control of Congress for 40 years. The stench of their corruption led the sheeple to turn over control to the Repugnicans, and they were so awful that the geniuses in this country (including the "progressive" idiot who wrote this column) turned control back to the Demonrats.

And, of course, Osama's "stimulus" plan, which consists of allowing the banksters to run this country straight over the cliff, is the answer. Don't pay any attention to the fact that he voted, along with McBush and plenty of other traitors in "both" crime organizations, for this, as well as letting telecom companies off the hook for helping the fascist Bush administration to illegally spy on Americans.

And never mind the fact that Congress, during the Clinton crime years, passed legislation that allowed the banks to engage in this financial chicanery (while Congress not only watched them do it, but bullied banks into making loans to people who weren't qualified, lest they be called -- gasp -- "racists); that they passed legislation that allowed for millions of American jobs and whole industries to be outsourced and offshored; that they passed legislation allowing a handful of media conglomerates to take complete control of what is seen, heard and read by 95% of the population of this country, keeping them stupified over the latest exploits of O.J., Britney, Paris, and the like, while not one member of Congress, or the Zionist-controlled "watchdog," "mainstream" media has a condemnatory word for the racist, apartheid, gangster state of Israel, which stamped bar codes on their asses.

Yes, the Demonrats are the answer to your problems. And anybody who isn't progressive (a Communist Party, term, by the way) in their thinking, and who doesn't vote early and often, is the reason for the destruction of Amerika. Or . . . could this have something to do with it?

The GOP will indeed go down like the Titanic is 2010 if and only if Obama can steal himself to do what neither he nor congress have had the spine to do yet:
Fuck Wall Street. Let those gambling thieves have the comeuppance so rightly due them and not throw another dime of taxpayer money at another bank that lost big in the derivatives market.
That end end these wasteful and useless wars.

Finally, we get to plan some of the yucks. Obama is pretty sharp.

One thing the Repubs still control (contrary to rightie bull) is the MSM. The corporate board rooms are still Republican. And yet, the Dems and Obama are still doing good. We still have to fight like mad to get our message heard.

Yes, it is 20 million listeners - per week. The same 4 million listeners every day. Lets keep it in perspective.

Rush is a master at the straw man technique of propaganda.. misstate your opponents position and then proceed to knock it down..

Nominate the right candidate?? Perhaps Sarah Palin??

According to a report from CONSUMER REPORTS published online on March 4th, this financial disaster was caused by both Democrats and Republicans who were bought off by lobbyists who paid them to deregulate, which both parties did in almost equal amounts. Our Congress has betrayed us and continue to do so. I see no hope.

There are not two parties. The elections have been fixed, and the result is decided well before the primaries, or the announcements.

Don't you get it? It is entertainment, purely. Six corporations own the media. They do what their CEO says to do. The CEO's are on other boards of directors, including other sectors like energy, or defense spending.

The Obama hope is misplaced in this ruling elite. Banks own them both, and the same actors laugh all the way to the bank.

Russ Limbooo is their clown. They have hired him, for their radio show. His sideshow is the manly Ann.

The notion that voters rejected hard core conservatism is ridiculous. We have not seen a hard core conservative in DC for years. Instead voters rejected candy ass Republicans that act like Democrats.

Keep being wrong Ostroy on why the GOP lost. Makes it easier to blow past you in future elections.

The record is clear. Republican rule has resulted in disaster, and unfortunately Democrats did not have the balls to stand up to them.. That being said it is the Republicans party that ran us over the cliff with irresponsible fiscal policies, needless war, attacks on the Constitution and more. Republicans are hateful nasty people and all you have to do is watch how they lionize Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and others like them to realize how ignorant and hateful they are. And these are not occasional fringe elements that pop up here and there in both parties, but represent the heart and soul of an arrogant, militaristic, law breaking, hate filled reactionary element similar to groups that appear in other countries where certain groups have a tough time with change, represent the very wealthiest or promote an militaristic brand of religious doctrine.
But dont bother to try to reason with them. Reason means nothing to them. They ought to be ashamed for what they have done but instead want more of it..
